As junior class president you are expected to help the class president with t-shirt sales, create bonding activities with the class, create a Love Ripon project, help with all homecoming events, and most importantly put on the junior/senior class prom. Unfortunately this year we were not able to have a prom, but we started planning as soon as we could. My advice to you is to have direct communication with your class advisor. Before my junior year, and before covid hit we had the date and venue already planned for 2021 prom. I also advise you to use the same venue we have always used, at the Rivermill. The company fortunately allows us to rent out the space, and losing that space may give us no options beyond that. As far as homecoming goes, I have always had a positive experience with the outcome of homecoming because my class has great communication, and we all work hard towards your goal. Make sure to pick a theme that you can build off of. Keep in mind that you will be decorating a gym, float, and creating a dance with a budget and time frame with the theme you choose. I also advise you to order everything off Amazon elier than what you think. You do not want your stuff showing up a day before the rally. Being a class officer requires great communication. I think a skill that my class has is always communicating with each other, and always working together. Communication can help with planning events, solving conflict, holding students accountable, and pushing out information. Being VP also allows you to help develop a project for Love Ripon. You are told to work with the other class Vp to create a project for students to work on during Love Ripon, whether it's painting, laying down bark, or staining wood. This year I was not able to choose a project, but I did last year. My advice to you is to work with the other Vps to think of a project everyone would be able to do. Push out the information as much as possible, getting people involved, and don't be afraid of Mr Hobbs. He seems intimidating, but as long as you create good eye contact, smile, and think of good ideas, he will love you. Bonding is also very important. Something I wish I did more was create a closer relationship with the younger classmen. I am very close with my own class, however I could have made the effort to get to know other classmen in the program a little more. Finally, getting your class t-shirt designed as soon as possible is important. Make sure to communicate with your officers about the design, and think about what you can create that will make people want to buy it.
