Live more, worry less. I often find myself worrying more and living less. Most of my stress comes because I am either living in the past which creates disappointment and anger or in the future which adds to stress and fear that I have no control over. For this year I would like to focus more on the present, and what I can control. In a world full of the unknown, especially right now, the best thing I can do is focus on myself. Take every day for granted, and everything for granted. Not knowing when we can go back to school, or even when the world will be back to normal again is something I, myself cannot control on my own. The most I can do is focus on the present and fulfill each day with memories. Live the life I want to live, not the life that others want me to live. This year in leadership the class is taking a step back to focus more on what we need to keep to benefit the people at Ripon High, and what we can ditch because it just takes up time with no benefits. In a training session with Scott Backovich we talked about what is important, and the tools we need to have a successful year. We talked about new ideas, such as spirit days with meaning, like 9/11 memorial and breast cancer awareness week. Having a spirit day, or a day dedicated to a topic people are able to relate to will get more class involvement rather than a random dress day such as career day or wacky hair day. We also talked about activities we can have while we aren't on campus. My personal favorites were the designated drinks or ice cream at the main businesses downtown such as Coffee House and the Ice Cream Emporium. With every purchase of the "Ripon High item" they can have an opportunity to get a piece of Ripon High merch, while also including the whole Ripon community. Another one of my favorites was a zoom call set up to acknowledge the new staff or new students to Ripon High. We can have an opportunity to give them a piece of Ripon High clothing to show they are now a part of the tribe! I am very excited for this year's leadership class, we have a lot to face and a lot of new challenges, but if we tackle each day, day by day, and worry less, we will be able to live more:)
