Considering the challenges this year, give more, ask less from the student body.
The leadership class finally got to put on an in person event this year. Through homecoming we focused on giving to the student body, rather than asking. With that we provided optional dress up days, candy for dressing up, a night rally, and the homecoming candidate reveal. Because all of these events were outside, anyone would come. The junior class also handed out concert lanyards, necklaces, and spirit pom poms at the night rally for more spirit and involvement.
Make this year memorable even though we are not starting off the year at school.
Ever since the beginning of this school year I have focused on having fun and making the most out of it, even if we were only going to be in person for half of the school year. I made it memorable by getting involved and building connections with students and staff even when we were on zoom. I always made sure to tell the teachers goodbye, and always had my camera on. Once we got back in person I made sure to join any activities as possible. I attended the FFA ALA conference, received my state degree, dressed up for all of the school dress up days, as well as getting into leadership and link crew for next year. Taking videos and pictures of my high school experience has also made my school year more memorable.
Short Term Goals:
Work on procrastination and keep myself from lacking on online schooling.
Now that we are in person, and not on zoom I would successfully say that even though I did procrastinate, I ended my semester with a 4.1 GPA, and no missing assignments. This semester is in person, which is also challenging with procrastination. I currently do not have any late or missed assignments, however my GPA is lower. I have worked on procrastination, and lacking interest in school by keeping a calendar, writing in my journal, and opening all of my homework tabs on my computer that are needed for that day.
Focus on self imagine, skin, weight and eating right.
I have seen the most improvement on reflecting on my self image by looking towards God, and what he has given me. Realizing that God made me just the way I am, and that in his eyes I am perfect has helped me through very tough times. Everybody is built differently, and in reality everybody that you see on social media isn’t always what you see in person. I have realized that the bodies that I look at to be inspiring, can also be my body. The more I talk about how I wish my body looked like other people's , the more I hear that people wish they had my body. Over the past three months I have also focused on my skin, and helping others feel comfortable in their skin. I created a snap chat story to document my skin journey, and what I do to help it. So far I have quit taking my birth control, as well as my acne medication. After being off of medication for a month my skin has been the best it has been all year. You only have one perfect body, enjoy it.
Long Term Goals:
Get out and travel.
I have currently not been traveling because of Covid-19. However, I do strive to travel during the summer and have planned some upcoming trips with my friends. I plan to go to Utah with Hailey and Jaydin next month, and my family hopes to go on a road trip around Wyoming this summer. I have also talked to my mom about visiting colleges this summer, such as Oklahoma, Nevada, and Idaho. When I am not traveling I do focus on looking back on trips I took as a kid, such as going to Tahoe, New York, and the west coast. I look back on trips through pictures, memories, and tickets I have kept throughout my trips.
Work on being the best version of myself.
This past year I have focused on balancing the relationships I have with myself, as well as the people I care about. I have learned that if you are too focused on making others happy, you lose yourself. But, if you only focus on yourself you start to lose connections with the people you care about. I have balanced being the best version of myself by doing the things I love, and learning to not care about the things that won’t affect me in the long run. Some things I have done to be the best version of myself is taking the time to reflect. I try to reflect once a week, by sitting alone whether it is in the car, or at the cows for about an hour. I see improvements on mental health, as well as helping my friends out. This past year I have been told that I am a good listener, give good advice, and seem very stable with my mental health.
